Blotting Out Handwritings…

Two babies may be born on the same day, but under two completely different circumstances. When one child enters the world, people celebrate, sharing candies, taking photos, and posting on social media.
But when the other child is born, certain people arrive with razor blades, marking the child, slaughtering a fowl, making incantations, and pouring libations. From every standpoint, you know these two children are growing up in the same world, yet under different spiritual climates.
Two distinct spiritual climates
One has had fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness from day one (Ephesians 5:11). Sacrifices have been offered to demons on his behalf (1 Corinthians 10:20). Some even cause their children to pass through the fire to idols (Deuteronomy 18:10). So, when these two young people eventually give their lives to Christ, they will not be dealing with the same spiritual baggage. And I will tell you plainly: the latter will have more spiritual realities to deal with.
Let me make the dilemma even clearer!
If you were born into a family whose father is like Barjesus, you will have even more ordinances to deal with. Barjesus bewitched an entire region and sought to withstand Paul and Barnabas, men who had no relationship with him (Acts 13:8). How much more would he withstand his own child, especially if that child turns to Christ and stands against his worship of devils?
Please note:
I am not talking about deliverance. Paul and Barnabas did not need deliverance from Barjesus; what they had was the discernment, the ability to recognize that a spirit was actively at work, withstanding them and making the gospel of none effect in the heart of the deputy. That is what we refer to as satanic influence.
If anyone needed deliverance, it was Barjesus himself. This distinction is important because, for many believers, “deliverance” is the only category they understand when dealing with evil powers.
You will often hear them say, “You need to go for deliverance.” However, some issues arise because a person is genuinely bound and needs to be set free, that is, deliverance.
But in many other situations, the believer is not bound; rather, they are being opposed, resisted, distracted, hindered, or withstood by invisible forces. That is demonic influence, and it is handled not by seeking deliverance but by discernment, prayer, and enforcing the victory of Christ through faith.
As in Colossians 2:15, sometimes the issue is not deliverance, it is the reality of the handwriting of ordinances that are (1) against you, and (2) working contrary to you, that has to be taken out of the way.
Our responsibility
Our responsibility is to stand our ground and enforce Christ’s victory in our lives. There are things that must be taken out of the way so you can march on to victory, demonic opposition, invisible forces, spiritual resistance, unseen pressures, inherited conditions, lingering influences, and long-standing ordinances that rise up against a man.
These are not often cases requiring deliverance, but they are definitely cases where the believer must rise in spiritual authority and enforce what Christ has already accomplished.
The good news
But here is the good news: the Holy Ghost who taught Paul how to deal with Barjesus will teach you how to confront the unfruitful works of darkness and the demonic ordinances that are against you and contrary to you (Colossians 2:14).
Something else, Christians must learn to pray much in the Spirit. We are not dealing with suspicion or speculation here, my friend. There is a God in heaven who reveals secrets. If you cultivate a consistent prayer life, the Spirit of God will direct you to address situations you never imagined existed.
He will lead you to pray about matters hidden beneath the surface. He will open your eyes to the Scriptures and show you how to confront things you never knew had any demonic undertone.
Pray without ceasing
This is why you must start praying today. Pray without ceasing. If we would simply obey the Lord and be instant in prayer, many of the challenges we face would be dealt with, not by power, not by might, but by the Spirit, says the Lord. Arise and stand your ground, for this is not your rest!
