Fasting is not only an emergency line; it is an all-purpose line. Full of the Spirit? Fast! Seen miracles? Fast! Feeling empty? Fast! Full of wisdom like Daniel? Fast! The weight of ministry feels too heavy? Fast! Enjoying overflow in ministry? Fast! Paul reminds us to fast often (2 Corinthians 11:27). Fast!

Full of the Spirit like Jesus? Fast!

Jesus, being full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led into the wilderness to fast and pray. Isn’t it remarkable that even those who are filled with the Holy Spirit still engage in fasting for forty days and forty nights? The anointing and fullness of the Spirit never license indulgence or gluttony. Fast!

Have wisdom like Daniel? Fast!

Daniel was blessed with wisdom, revelation, and supernatural insight. You might not expect such a man to fast for twenty-one days, yet the more of God’s wisdom and revelation we receive, the more we desire, and fasting helps cultivate that hunger. Fast!

Feeling weak or empty? Fast!

Feeling weak or empty? Wait on the Lord in fasting and prayer, and your strength will be renewed like the eagles. Those who bow their faces before the living God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, will rise in Strength. Yes, He will renew your spiritual strength, your mental strength, and your physical strength. Even in old age, you will still bear fruit. Nothing stops you from fasting. Fast!

The God who provided manna in the wilderness is the same God who provides corn in Canaan. The difference is this: in the wilderness we pick manna, but in Canaan we plant the corn. Yet in both seasons,
